Sitting at my desk,
the One A.M. sprinklers
come to life, outside—
so unlike my barren mind,
which won't produce a dribble.

My palms itch and crack,
in spite of my best efforts
with creams and wax balms;
must be poison inside me
slowly, constantly burning.
