Mid-Autumn Tanka 2018

First rain of the year
came as a sudden surprise,
to the office folks.
They grumbled and pouted and
drove to lunch instead of walked.

Through the window slats
I hear the rain's pattering
turn into a roar;
I shut my door and lights off,
then stare out, nose on the glass.
