Early Autumn Tanka 2018

On a walk for lunch
I go out of my way and
step on dried leaves.
After six paces, I note
the suspicious lack of rain.

That brief few days
when bigleaf maples turn
green to gold:
Easy to miss, but their sunset
stretches forever in my mind.

The Doug

A drive to Seattle:
pristine sky & a cushion of
clouds on the horizon;
An evergreen stands in a field,
waving gently in the wind.
